Na’taja was born and raised in Harlem by some of the most stylish and soulful people. It was their love that nurtured her into the artist she is today. For Na’taja, colors tell the story, cue a memory; they trigger a taste. And black and brown are clearly her favorite. All the colors used in her work are inspired by moments - the brightness and darkness of the world she carries in her memory and even in her nostalgia. Maybe deep down, her obsession with hues of burnt sienna is connected to her love of chocolate (its richness, depth, texture), but what's most clear is that her art is rooted in her love of black people.
